The Journey Continues...
I do not travel a lot, but I am always open to a new adventure. I say that I like change, but I lived for over 30 years in the same house, have been married to my husband Mike for longer than that, and have always lived in the Chicago area. I have always felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be-and I have known when it was time for a change. Most of my career was with one company, but supporting a global IT environment fulfilled my need for change. Then I began a new career adventure, working for the Catholic Church, first at a parish in Evanston for 4 years, and then in Wadsworth since 2019.
And yes, once again, it is time for a change. At the end of this month, I will be retiring from the St. Brigid parish staff. However, having been a parishioner here since the 1990’s (before the turn of the century!), I look forward to continuing to be part of the St. Brigid community.
Jeremiah 29: 11-17 is one of my treasured verses from Scripture: “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD-plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me.”
Since you will still see me around, a farewell message does not seem quite right. Still, this is a moment to acknowledge the many people who have journeyed with me through the years-as friends, as fellow ministers, and as fellow disciples of Christ-both in parish life and across the archdiocese. These relationships will always be treasured, and, I hope, will continue, in new ways and new roles. As I look back, I am grateful for the priests and deacons who have influenced me over the years. I also thank Fr. Wojciech, all our parish and school staff, and all of you for your friendship, support, and inspiration. I now look forward to time for rest and renewal, to being with family, and to seeing where the Lord will lead me next.
So, why now? How did I know that this was the right time for this “life change”? The analytical side of me spent weeks and months discerning the timing before “deciding” on February 2026. Then God gave me a good chuckle when I learned that our third grandchild would be comng into the world this very month. YES, he truly does know the plans he has for us and gently guides us toward them!
Another verse captures it well: “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him.” (Psalm 37:7) I look forward to having more time to do just that, and for the many new adventures yet to come on this journey of life.
One other parish update, and example of “waiting patiently for the Lord.” Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is starting up in March! A new team has been established, and the sessions will be held one Sunday a month at each church. The hope is to have enough participants and team members later in the year to offer it more often. Watch the bulletin and website for additional information.
